Cecil J. Rhodes Ndebele Cultural Village
Lushumbe, Matopos, Matabeleland, Zimbabwe
The Village borders the Matopos national park, 90 km from Bulawayo. It has been designed to become a privileged learning center for local and foreign students, in crafts, traditional healing, agriculture and philosophy. Very concerned with the protection of biodiversity and traditional knowledge, this project is aware that at the dawn of the 3rd millennium new ways need to be found. A small touristic infrastructure will further create jobs and income for the local population. The Village is surrounded by bush and lies in a beautiful setting which was already inhabited by the ancient San people who left a number of impressive rock paintings. The access to the caves is free and easy, the national park and its animals are just a stone’s throw away. AfrikaViva assists in fundraising for the project.
